Midtown Beach could close partially or entirely during seawall work
Plus a push for more comment time on Mar-a-Lago flight restrictions
Town staff told the council Sept. 8 that Midtown Beach would close partially or entirely while its seawall is replaced. Construction is expected to begin in December and take 18 months. A complete closure would keep the beach inaccessible until spring 2028. Council member Lew Crampton called for more discussion before a decision on the extent of the closure. Staff will ask the contractor how leaving part of the beach open would affect cost and timing.
Committee wants more time on Mar-a-Lago flight rules
The Federal Aviation Administration is considering making the current flight restrictions over Mar-a-Lago permanent. A citizens’ committee has requested more time for public comment, the Palm Beach Civic Association reports.
The Architectural Commission needs applicants
Architectural Commission applications are due to the Town Clerk’s Office by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30. Members must be registered voters in Palm Beach and serve three-year terms. The commission advises on changes to structures visible from public rights-of-way, new construction and landscaping. The town says appointments are scheduled for consideration at the Nov. 9 council meeting.
