The town's Water Resource Division is performing maintenance on the sanitary sewer force main along S. Ocean Boulevard, from the 2100 block down to the 200 block at Royal Palm Way, on Saturday, July 25. Traffic control operations start around 8:30 a.m. and finish by 3 p.m., with each location taking about an hour to complete. S. The 100 block of Seaview Avenue is closed for road construction from July 13 into mid-August, with local traffic only permitted through the work zone. Running much longer, the west end of Clarendon Avenue at Vita Serena is closed to all through traffic from May 1 through Oct. 31 while a town contractor rebuilds the sanitary and stormwater pump stations there. Public Works is asking residents on that block to have household staff and vendors park on their own property rather than on the roadway, so what traffic there is can keep moving. The town's coastal guidance identifies protected least tern nesting on the north end of the island and explains that the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sets a protective perimeter around colonies. Oceanfront property owners must keep artificial light from being visible from the beach between March 1 and Oct. 31 under the town's Shielding of Light ordinance, which means switching off anything that illuminates the beach or ocean and shielding or redirecting fixtures visible from the shoreline. The deadline to request that a vote-by-mail ballot be mailed to you for the Aug. 18 primary is 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6. Early voting in Palm Beach County runs Saturday, Aug. 8 through Sunday, Aug. 16, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. Lowe's is building a home improvement store in the city of Westlake, on a site between Seminole Pratt Whitney Road and Town Center Parkway North. The store will have 488 parking spaces, including spots designated for professional contractors and for golf carts, an accommodation to how people move around Westlake. Construction begins shortly and should wrap between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. Candidate packets and election information for the town's next municipal election become available at the beginning of October 2026. The first day to submit pre-qualifying paperwork to the town is Nov. 17, 2026, and the Town Caucus is set for Dec. 1, 2026, with a time still to be announced.
